1 Peter 5:10 – “And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
Hebrews 4:15-16 – “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet He did not sin. 1 Corinthians 10:13- No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to humanity. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Matthew 11:28 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Addiction is rarely about the addictions, and more likely, a void in our own spirit. Loneliness, lack of confidence, unresolved hurt and more... these things lead us to self-medicate to make it all better. When we fill the gaps in our heart with anything but Jesus, we are headed toward a disaster.
What classifies an addiction anyway?
"Any habit that ROBS you of the life God intends."
There are 3 C's to Recognizing Addiction in Your Life:
- Loss of control
It controls you and you can't keep a reign over it.
- Craving & compulsiveness
It consumes your mind & you can't stop thinking about it until you do it.
- Continued use in the face of adverse consequences
Even in consequences, you just can't seem to stop.
So how do we overcome addictions? How do we fight it? How do we overcome this giant in our lives?
1. Realize that these everyday giants are bigger than you are
(Stop rationalizing, get out of denial and admit the addiction)
2. Remember that we love and serve a God of power and might
(He is BIGGER than your giant)
3. Entrust your LIFE to God
(Not just believing in Jesus... no, give your life over. That includes your addiction)
4. Remove yourself from the devil's playground
(The devil is on the prowl, and we are to have God's armor up, be prepared, be ready - cause when the enemy attacks, he does all in his power to bring you down...)
5. Surround yourself with those who lift you up
(We were created for relationships! Why? To love, encourage, support, challenge each other. Who we surround ourselves with matters)
